Recent U.S. visitors to CCG

Here at CCG, Henry Huiyao Wang and Mabel Lu Miao had a busy week receiving distinguished guests from the United States before heading to Davos, Switzerland.

On January 12, 2024, CCG welcomed John L. Thornton, Co-Chair of the Asia Society and Chair Emeritus of the Brookings Institution. Thorton is also the Executive Chairman of Barrick Gold Corporation.

Henry, Founder & President of CCG, and Mabel, Co-Founder & Secretary-General of CCG, met with Thorton in New York in July 2023.

On January 11, 2024, CCG welcomed Rick Waters, Managing Director of Eurasia Group's China practice. Mr. Waters has a 27-year career in the U.S. State Department, where he most recently oversaw the creation of the Office of China Coordination, informally known as the China House, and served as the first China Coordinator and deputy assistant secretary of state for China and Taiwan. Waters was accompanied by Mingda Qiu, a Eurasia Group analyst.

On January 10, 2024, CCG welcomed Martin Smith, Producer and Senior Foreign Correspondent for FRONTLINE, an investigative documentary program distributed by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the United States.

In his 40 years producing and reporting, Martin Smith has covered from revolution in Central America to the rise of Al Qaeda and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has won every major award in American television including four DuPont Columbia Gold Batons, five Peabody Awards, and eight Emmys.

Smith was accompanied by Liyan Ma, an award-winning colleague.

On January 9, 2024, CCG welcomed Deborah Lehr, Vice Chairman and Executive Director, Paulson Institute and Chief Executive Officer of Edelman Global Advisory (EGA). Lehr was accompanied by Gracie Sun, Vice Chair of APAC and Managing Director for EGA.
