Below are some recent visits by Henry Huiyao Wang, Founder and President of the Centre for China and Globalisation (CCG), and Mable Lu Miao, Secretary-General of CCG, in Germany & the UK.
Germany
On September 24, Henry Huiyao Wang and Mabel Lu Miao met in Berlin with Nora Mueller, Executive Director for International Affairs at Körber-Stiftung.
On September 25, Wang and Miao attended the third MY WAY Strategy Summit in Berlin.
In a panel titled “BRICS and Mercosur — The Global South Strikes Back”, Wang joined Marcos Prado Troyjo, former President of the New Development Bank, and Vijay Gokhale, former Foreign Minister of India and former Ambassador of India to Germany and China. The panel was moderated by Eberhard Sandschneider, a political scientist and partner at Berlin Global Advisors and a professor at Freie Universität Berlin.
In another panel, “Playbook China: Should I Stay or Should I Go? Trading With China in Turbulent Times,” Wang spoke alongside Jörg Wuttke, partner at DGA Albright Stonebridge Group and former president of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, and Dirk Hoke, CEO of the Voith Group. The discussion was moderated by Frank Sieren, author and correspondent.
On September 26, Wang and Miao met Wolfgang Ischinger, President of the Munich Security Conference Foundation, in Berlin.
They also met Christian Kastrop, President and CEO of the Global Solutions Initiative (GSI) and former German Federal State Secretary for Digital Society.
In addition, they met Michael Schumann, Chairman of the Board of the Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA).
On September 27, Wang and Miao visited the Chinese Embassy in Berlin and met with Minister-Counsellor Sun Shouliang and Deputy Director Chu Shuhai.
The UK
On October 1, Henry Huiyao Wang met with Federico Escher, Head of Foreign News at Channel 4 News, in London.
On the same day, Wang attended a dinner seminar at the Carlton Club in London, themed “NATO — Still Our Shield?” The seminar was led by Rachel Ellehuus, Director-General of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI).
On October 2, Wang met Niall Ferguson, international political and financial historian.
On October 3, Wang and Miao had a meeting with Susana Mourato, Vice-President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) and Professor of Environmental Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Brendan Smith, Executive Director of International Strategy and LSE in East Asia, and Emilia Borysowska, Global Research Partnerships & Alliances Manager at LSE.
On October 4, Wang visited Chatham House, where he met Bronwen Maddox, Director and Chief Executive of Chatham House, James Kynge, Senior Fellow for China and the World with the Asia-Pacific Programme, and Yu Jie, Senior Research Fellow on China in the same programme.
On October 5, Wang was interviewed by the production team of Norma Percy, Emmy and BAFTA-winning documentary filmmaker.
On October 6, Wang and Miao visited King’s College London (KCL), where they met with Kerry Brown, Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Lau China Institute at KCL.
On October 7, Wang and Miao visited the Chinese Embassy in London, where they met with Charge d’Affaires Wang Qi and Counsellor for Political Affairs Mu Yongpeng.
