The Center for China and Globalization (CCG) will host a roundtable discussion and luncheon with Pascal Lamy, former Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and Arancha González, Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po and former Foreign Minister of Spain, on 7 November 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of China’s accession to the WTO.
The discussion will look back at China’s achievements since joining the WTO in 2001 and explore the opportunities and challenges facing China and the global trading system amid rising trade protectionism, geopolitical tensions and mounting pressures on global industrial and supply chains.
Drawing on their extensive experience in international trade and diplomacy, Lamy and González will offer perspectives on China’s engagement with the WTO, the future of the multilateral trading system and prospects for global economic cooperation. Experts, business leaders and think tank scholars will join the discussion.
