CCG to co-host two sessions at upcoming Doha Forum, Dec. 11
"The Future of Ukraine: A Broad Spectrum View" and "A Multilateral Dialogue on Regional Security and Diplomacy".
At the upcoming 21st Doha Forum from December 10-11, the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), as the sole Chinese partner of the forum, will co-host two sessions.
On the morning of December 11, CCG and the Middle East Institute will co-host a breakout session titled "A Multilateral Dialogue on Regional Security and Diplomacy".
At a time of heightened conflict and rising tension in the MENA region, the need for multilateral and inclusive dialogue is more important than ever. This session will bring together influential perspectives from both inside and outside the region to consider broad issues such as the prospects for diplomacy and conflict resolution, nonproliferation, infrastructure development, and economic development.
It will be moderated by Paul Salem, President and CEO of the Middle East Institute, with participation from Henry Huiyao Wang, Founder and President of CCG and Manisha Singh, Principal of Sunstone Strategy Group.
On the afternoon of December 11, CCG will hold another breakout session titled "The Future of Ukraine: A Broad Spectrum View" with the European Policy Centre
Against the backdrop of the Gaza crisis where the Israel-Hamas conflict has shattered the fragile regional stability, there is a growing view that the war in Ukraine may turn into a stalemate. The ongoing crisis in the Middle East has diverted diplomatic, political and media attention away from Kyiv, compounding concerns over long-term western funding for Kyiv. What role do international influences and relationship have on preventing a protracted conflict and what strategies can be harnessed to de-escalate tensions and facilitate a peaceful resolution. By examining the engagement of key global stakeholders and their contributions to conflict mitigation, this panel aims to shed light on the potential pathways toward lasting stability and cooperation in the region.
The session will be moderated by CNN correspondent Melissa Bell, with participation from Henry Huiyao Wang, founder and President of CCG, Fabian Zuleeg, President and Chief Executive of European Policy Centre, Paula Dobriansky, Vice Chair of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, and Jacek Siewiera, Head of Poland's National Security Bureau.
The Doha Forum 2023, taking place on Dec. 10-11, will build around the theme "Building Shared Futures" to find new ideas and new approaches to the most pressing unresolved questions concerning "International Relations and Security", "Economic Policy and Development", "Cyber Security, Data Privacy, and Artificial Intelligence", and "Sustainability."
Mabel Lu Miao, co-founder and secretary-general of CCG, was invited as a speaker at the Doha Forum in both 2018 and 2019.
