CCG Hosts Closed-Door Luncheon on China-U.S. Relations
Diplomats, business leaders, scholars, and media representatives join closed-door discussion in Beijing
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) hosted a closed-door luncheon in Beijing on “Prospects for China-U.S. Relations and Insights from Recent Visit to U.S.”
Held shortly after CCG completed a visit to the United States, the event aimed to share first-hand observations on the current U.S. political and academic landscape, and to invite Chinese and international experts to discuss new opportunities in China-U.S. relations.
The luncheon was chaired by Henry Huiyao Wang, Founder and President of CCG. Drawing on his visit to the United States in mid-April, Wang shared his observations and reflections with participants.
Denis Simon, Senior Fellow for East Asia at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and former Executive Vice Chancellor of Duke Kunshan University; Lu Xiang, retired Research Fellow, Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and CCG Senior Fellow; and Mabel Lu Miao, Secretary-General of CCG, delivered keynote remarks. Zhu Hong, former Minister for Commercial Affairs at the Chinese Embassy in the United States, also shared his views. The speakers took questions from the audience.




The luncheon brought together more than 30 Chinese and international participants from government, business, academia, and the media. Ambassadors in attendance included Karlis Eihenbaums, Ambassador of Latvia to China; Robert Lee, Ambassador of Fiji to China; Kenji Kanasugi, Ambassador of Japan to China; Hannes Hanso, Ambassador of Estonia to China; Peter Tan Hai Chuan, Ambassador of Singapore to China; and Hallam Henry, Ambassador of Barbados to China.
Deputy-head-of-mission-level diplomats from the embassies of Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Iceland, as well as diplomats from the embassies of Brazil, Indonesia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, India, and Australia, also attended.
Senior China executives from multinational companies, including P&G, BP, Cargill, and Marubeni, were present, along with CCG Executive Council members, including Tang Haoxuan, Chairman of Fuaida International Trading Company. Journalists from major international media outlets, including Der Spiegel and CNN, also attended.
