A delegation from The Carter Center visited the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) on Friday, May 29, 2026, for a roundtable discussion on China-U.S. relations following U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to China.

Founded by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, The Carter Center is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to peace, democracy, public health, and international exchange. President Carter played a historic role in establishing diplomatic relations between China and the United States in 1979 and, after leaving office, continued to support people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding between the two countries.

The Carter Center delegation had been on an exchange visit in China for nearly a week. During the two-hour English-language discussion, several members of the delegation noted the constructive assessments and positive expectations voiced by Chinese stakeholders regarding China-U.S. relations after President Trump’s visit to China, stressing that uncertainties in the bilateral relationship should not be underestimated.
